The Process

Your special day has arrived, and you finally get to hold that stunning bouquet you have spent so long imagining! Enjoy every minute of it and if you can, take a moment to reflect on what your flowers represent, the promise of a new and beautiful chapter of your life.

After the whirlwind of your magical day is done, it's so reassuring to know that your precious flowers will not be thrown away, but rather carefully preserved to enjoy for years to come.

So, a little bit about the process of preservation..

Once your flowers arrive at our studio, each bloom is immediately placed into our traditional wooden flower presses, where they will slowly dry and press over 4-6 weeks. During the first seven days, the papers inside the press are changed daily. This helps draw out moisture, preserving the flower’s natural colour as much as possible, and minimising the risk of browning.

Pressing flowers is a slow process that requires patience and care, but it’s an important part of creating beautiful, high-quality pressed flowers. We take the time to ensure each bloom is given the best chance of becoming a lasting part of your heirloom artwork.

**Please be mindful that, depending on the variety of flowers in your bouquet, colours can change during the pressing process. Bright and rich pigmented flowers will generally remain the same, but light pinks can turn a light purple, reds and burgundies tend to turn a deep maroon, while whites turn more vintage and creamy.
These natural variations are all part of the beauty of working with flowers and other natural materials, making each piece truly unique.

Once your flowers are completely dried and ready, we will be in touch to discuss the design details of your artwork. We will again confirm the frame type and backing colour you would like (a girl can change her mind after all!), as well as any inclusions, such as a photograph, invitation or ribbon from your bouquet. Your composition is then created with great care, allowing the natural forms of the flowers to guide the design. Before final gluing, a mock-up is sent to you for final approval, and to make any small adjustments you may want to the design of your artwork.
